You didn't check this time - and I noticed the small startle right after, like you'd reached for something you always keep close and your hand came back empty. Your body still did what it does before you've decided anything; that part didn't change. What changed is you weren't watching yourself from the outside, keeping score while it happened. That's the part that's harder to sit with than the problem itself, isn't it. You already know you'll be back. What you came here with doesn't go away on its own.
